Professional Upholstery Cleaning Sydney

Fabric identified and tested before anything touches it

A deeper clean for the furniture you live on

Your sofa, armchairs and dining chairs are some of the most heavily used surfaces in your home. We sit on them every day. Children climb over them. Pets sleep on them. Food gets dropped, drinks get spilled and body oils gradually build up on armrests, headrests and seat cushions. Unlike carpet, much of that contamination can accumulate slowly enough that you stop noticing it.

We provide professional upholstery cleaning across Sydney, with careful attention to fabric type, construction, staining and moisture. We are fully insured and do not use subcontractors. When you book us, the people you speak to are the people who turn up and do the work.

Upholstery needs a different approach

A sofa is not simply carpet turned sideways. Upholstery fabrics can vary enormously in fibre, construction, colour stability and sensitivity to moisture. One lounge may be a durable synthetic fabric designed for heavy family use. Another may contain wool, cotton, viscose or blended fibres requiring a much more considered approach.

The internal construction of the furniture also matters. That is why we inspect upholstery before cleaning rather than assuming every fabric can tolerate the same products, heat or amount of moisture. Good upholstery cleaning is about getting the fabric properly clean while respecting what it is made from.

Our upholstery cleaning process

Inspection

Before cleaning begins, we inspect the upholstery and discuss any particular concerns with you. We look at areas of heavy use, visible staining, fabric condition and anything else that may affect the cleaning process. Where manufacturer information or care labels are available, these can also help inform the appropriate approach.

If there is any reason we believe a fabric requires a different cleaning method or should not be cleaned using our normal process, we would rather explain that before starting.

Identifying the areas that need extra attention

Furniture rarely soils evenly. The arms and headrest of a favourite chair may carry significantly more body oil than the back. The front edge of a sofa cushion may be considerably dirtier than the area against the backrest. Dining chairs may have food or drink contamination concentrated around the seat. Pet households can add hair, oils, odours and occasional accidents into the equation.

We identify these areas first so they can receive the attention they actually need.

Pre-treatment

Where appropriate, professional upholstery cleaning solutions are applied to help loosen accumulated soil from the fabric. Different fabrics and different contaminants may require different products.

Our aim is not to use the strongest chemical available. It is to select a suitable cleaning solution and use it correctly.

Individual stain treatment

Coffee, wine, food, grease, makeup, pet contamination and general body oils are different problems. Where appropriate, individual stains receive their own treatment rather than simply being sprayed with the general upholstery cleaning solution and hoped for the best.

The success of stain treatment depends on several factors, including the fibre, what caused the stain, how long it has been present and whether another product has already been used on it. Some staining may be permanent. If we believe a mark represents permanent colour loss, fibre damage or another condition that cleaning cannot safely correct, we will tell you.

Controlled extraction

Where the fabric is suitable, we use extraction equipment and upholstery tools to rinse away suspended soil and cleaning solution. Upholstery cleaning requires controlled moisture. The objective is to clean the fabric thoroughly without unnecessarily saturating the furniture beneath it. That means the amount of solution applied, the extraction process and the condition of the fabric all matter.

Additional extraction where appropriate

Once the fabric has been cleaned, additional extraction passes may be used to remove residual moisture. This can assist drying while helping leave as little cleaning residue behind as practical.

Drying time varies according to the fabric, room temperature, humidity, airflow and construction of the furniture. We will give you appropriate aftercare advice before we leave.

The parts of your sofa that get dirtiest

One of the interesting things about upholstery is that the most heavily contaminated areas are not always the ones with obvious stains.

Armrests

Hands and bare skin transfer natural oils onto fabric over time. These areas can gradually darken and become slightly greasy without a single obvious spill ever occurring.

Headrests

Hair and skin oils can accumulate where people regularly rest their heads. This can be especially visible on lighter upholstery.

Seat cushions

Seat cushions receive constant pressure, clothing fibres, body oils, crumbs and general household soil.

Front edges

The front of a sofa or chair often comes into contact with hands, legs and feet and can show heavier use than surrounding fabric.

Pet areas

If your dog or cat has a favourite corner of the lounge, chances are the upholstery knows about it. Pet hair, skin oils, outdoor soil and odour can all become concentrated in that area.

Professional cleaning allows us to treat these high-use sections rather than pretending the entire lounge has been used equally.

Family sofas are supposed to be lived on

We are not interested in making customers feel guilty because their sofa is dirty. Furniture gets dirty because people use it. A family sofa may have survived movie nights, toddlers, teenagers, dogs, takeaway, birthday parties and a few glasses of red wine that did not quite make it to their destination. That is normal.

Our job is to work out what can be safely cleaned and give the furniture the best treatment appropriate to its fabric and condition.

Pet hair, stains and odours

Pets and upholstered furniture tend to find each other. Hair can become trapped in fabric and crevices, while natural oils and outdoor soil gradually change the appearance of favourite sleeping areas.

Pet accidents can create a more complicated problem. Urine, for example, can penetrate beyond the face fabric and into padding or other internal materials. In those situations, routine surface cleaning may not completely resolve contamination that has travelled further inside.

We assess what we can see and discuss realistic treatment options.

Our philosophy is the same as with carpet. Treat the source of the problem where practical rather than simply covering an odour with fragrance.

Products for upholstery cleaning

We use professional-grade cleaning solutions and specialist treatments from established industry brands. We don't rely on one general-purpose detergent for every sofa, chair and stain. Product selection depends on the fabric, soil and cleaning requirements.

The idea is simple. Right product, right material, right process, not maximum chemistry for the sake of it.

Care around your home

Cleaning the furniture properly also means taking care of everything around it. We work carefully around polished timber floors, rugs, walls, skirting boards, nearby furniture and other finished surfaces. Equipment and hoses are positioned and moved with the property in mind.

Your sofa should look better when we leave. Nothing else should look worse. That attention to the surrounding home is part of our cleaning standard.

No subcontractors

We are an independent Sydney cleaning business. When you contact the business, you deal directly with the people who do the work. We inspect the furniture, discuss your concerns, choose the cleaning approach and carry out the work ourselves.

There is no call centre sending an unknown subcontractor to your home. We are fully insured, and our technicians hold current police checks. When somebody is invited into your home to work around your furniture and belongings, professionalism and trust matter just as much as good equipment.

Upholstery we can assess for cleaning

Depending on fabric, construction and condition, professional cleaning may be suitable for:

  • sofas and lounges
  • modular lounges
  • armchairs
  • dining chairs
  • occasional chairs
  • fabric bedheads
  • ottomans
  • upholstered benches
  • some office seating
  • other suitable upholstered furniture

Not every material should automatically be wet cleaned. Where we believe another cleaning method or specialist treatment would be more appropriate, we will say so.

Why professionally clean upholstery?

Professional upholstery cleaning can help remove the accumulation of:

  • general household soil
  • body oils
  • food contamination
  • drink spills
  • pet hair and soil
  • dust
  • traffic marks from hands and clothing
  • some odour-causing contamination

It can also make an entire room feel noticeably fresher. A sofa is one of the largest fabric surfaces in many living rooms. When it becomes dull and soiled gradually, you may not realise how much it affects the appearance of the room until it has been professionally cleaned.

Upholstery cleaning FAQs

How long does upholstery take to dry?

Drying time varies according to fabric, furniture construction, humidity, temperature, airflow and the amount of cleaning required. Controlled moisture and effective extraction help, and we will provide drying advice after the clean.

Can you remove every stain?

No. Many stains can be removed or significantly improved, but some permanently alter the fibre or colour. We prefer to set realistic expectations rather than promise something the fabric cannot deliver.

Can you remove dark marks from sofa arms and headrests?

Often these areas contain a build-up of body oils and general soil and can respond very well to professional cleaning. The final result depends on the fabric, extent of contamination and whether permanent fibre or colour changes have occurred.

Can you remove pet odours?

We can treat many pet-related problems, but contamination that has penetrated deeply into internal padding can be more complicated than surface cleaning alone. We assess the situation and explain what is realistically achievable.

Do you clean leather lounges?

Our main upholstery cleaning service is focused on suitable fabrics. If you have leather furniture, contact us first and we can advise whether it falls within the services we currently provide.

Do you clean velvet?

"Velvet" describes a fabric construction rather than one specific fibre, and some velvet upholstery requires specialist care. We would need to assess the material before determining whether our cleaning process is appropriate.

Can you clean dining chairs?

Yes, where the fabric is suitable. Dining-chair seats often respond particularly well because food and everyday soil tend to become concentrated in a relatively small area.

Can you clean my sofa at the same time as my carpets?

Yes. Combining carpet and upholstery cleaning into one appointment can be convenient and allows the whole room to receive attention at the same time.

Should I vacuum my sofa before you arrive?

Removing personal items, cushions where appropriate and obvious loose debris is helpful. We can discuss any preparation needed when the job is booked.

Will my sofa look brand new?

Sometimes the improvement can be dramatic, but cleaning cannot reverse physical wear, sun fading, damaged fibres or permanent colour loss. Our goal is to get the upholstery properly clean, not make promises about restoring damage that cleaning cannot repair.
