Wendy Whiteley's Secret Garden transformed neglected railway land on the Lavender Bay foreshore into one of Sydney's most unusual public gardens. The surrounding suburb is similarly tucked into steep, leafy terrain above the harbour.
The figs and jacarandas that make these streets what they are also drop constantly. The fallen material is sticky rather than dry, it gets walked in at the door, and it leaves a mark in light carpet that reads as a stain and is really just organic soil that has been left too long.
Steep access and apartments are not ideal territory for a business that owns only a truck-mounted machine.
We own both. We can use the truck mount when the property suits it, or carry our professional portable to where the carpet actually is.
