Como sits on the Georges River at the foot of the railway bridge, one of the older settlements in the Shire, with the pleasure grounds and the swimming enclosure still in use over a century on.

The suburb clings to a steep peninsula. Homes step down towards the water on narrow streets, many with long flights of external steps and a garage at road level well above the front door.

Those steps are the defining feature of working here. Running hoses down two flights and around a corner is rarely sensible, so the portable does more of the work in Como than almost anywhere else we go.
