Belfield sits south-west of Croydon Park, a small residential suburb built mainly in the post-war period, with a local shopping strip on Burwood Road and Belfield Park at its centre.

Housing is mostly freestanding brick homes on regular blocks, with a growing number of duplexes and newer builds replacing original stock. Family homes here tend to accumulate soil steadily through hallways and living areas rather than in one obvious event.
