Ermington sits along the northern bank of the Parramatta River, a settled residential suburb with the river parklands, Halvorsen Park and a long frontage onto the water.
Most of the housing is post-war freestanding brick, with newer townhouse and apartment development along the river edge and around Victoria Road. Blocks on the older streets are generous.
