Sandringham is a small pocket on the Georges River beside Sans Souci, taking in the sailing club, the baths and a short run of waterfront homes with the bridge overhead.
There is not much housing here and most of it faces the water. Homes are substantial, many rebuilt to make the most of the outlook, with living areas that open straight onto decks and lawns running to the river.
That indoor-outdoor layout is lovely to live in and hard on carpet. When the doors are open all summer there is no threshold catching anything, and the sand and grass walk straight through.
